Oh yes, he's still alive ! I understand that he is into V8 FORDS and owns a flat-head station wagon.
Perhaps, he has a flat-head buddy, who can ask if it is him !

If you mean the 2nd guy from left it sure looks like him but that would put him in a pic going by the 35 coupe was taken maybe in the 40's some time looks around 20 in that pic. ken ct.

JDL states that Andy Griffith was born in 1926, so he would have been 20 years old in 1946. I bet that someone will find out, for sure.

He most likely has a fan club. google his name.

Mike, I watched that show eveyday, as a kid. The town drunk, Otis, drove a 34 Ford Roadster, until Barney took his licence.....Ed

I don't know. There could be several years difference in ages in those two photos. He might still be a teenager in the fishing photo.
I'm hoping that Andy Griffith gets contacted by someone about this.

I would say not, that guy on the car looks like a hard grumpy guy, like he just lost his gal, see how your man Andy always looks happy, like he just finished a bottle. Your'e one or the other. Happy Andy or not.
 
The AARP magazine has a nice article about Mt. Airy, NC where was originally from. They say he's now 84 and live nearby, on the coast. He doesn't do interviews as the guy who wrote the article tried to contact him with no results. It was a nice article about the Mayberry state of mind.......
