Cost to adjust shims

I suspect the rod & main bearings need to be checked for clearance and have shims adjusted. What is a reasonable charge for this - including oil pan cleaning & new oil? About how many shop hours are usually involved?
Thanks.

My 2 cents
Buy a book and do the work your self. I think you will have better luck and you will learn something.
Have fun Bill

From Chiltons flat rate book--(1935)

Adjust mains and rods by shims or filing caps---5.0 hours --add for broken bolts, damaged threads etc.
When working "flat rate" only the inside of the pan would be cleaned.

I"m sure if you have a club, it would make a good seminar!!!!! Especially in Florida. Plus all you would have to do is probably watch and learn, club members are so willing to help. Good Luck!!

We have a club in your area (We met at the Fords and Friends Show). The Gold Coast Region of MARC. We have members from Miami to West Palm Beach. We meet every Third Wednesday at the Golden Corral in Pompano on Atlantic. Come join us we would love to help.

By the way we are have our annual All A and T show at the Pompano Citi Center on the 19th of March and a bunch of us will be at the Spring Fling in Lantana on the 26th of March.

5 hrs. ??!! Phew ! The boys worked fast way back then.. Or at least they work a heck of a lot faster than I do.. hehehehe.. I wish I could do it in that amount of time..

Ask the club if they would want at least a 5 hour club meeting. Herm.
