Correct Zenith carb selection

If I'm reading my JS correctly, for an early '31(pre-sidebowl), a Zenith-3 would be the correct/stock carb?

Zenith-1 and Zenith-2 were used to the end of Model A production, both as regular and then side-bowl types. Zenith-3's were in the minority.

Thanks Richard. So you could have either of the three(sorry, poor english) and still be 'correct' in terms of originality?

Has anyone ever seen any evidence of Zenith 3's actually being used during production years? I would think they were probably used for repairs / service after production.

The Zenith 3 was put into production by Ford around May of 1931 & used until the end..They are VERY hard to find & therefore VERY expensive.. I had two & sold one to Doc.K. for his p/u..

The Zenith-3 came out in January 1931; the 1st version had the gas inlet at the front of the upper housing like the Zenith 1 and Zenith-2; the mounting to intake manifold is very thin and has two rienforcing gussets for strength. In May the Zenith-3 Side Bowl was introduced, it used the same lower bowl, only the upper housing gas inlet was changed to accomodate the side bowl. The Zenith-1 and Zenith-2 were also modified to accept the side bowl.
