Correct under seat floorpan for 29 phaeton

The floorpan was missing on my 29 phaeton, along with several other items, but that's another story, so I don't know the floorpan style that pan should be. The floorpan is am concerned with, rivets to the sub rails and cross rail under the front seat. I am attaching a couple of pictures that show a repro floorpan (first picture) and an original floor pan (second picture). Can anyone tell me which is the correct floorpan to use on an early 29 phaeton. Note the breaks in the big X on the original (second floorpan) which are not in the repro pan.
Thanks for any help with this.

Rusty,

I would have thought it would have had a curtain pan? The lower one I have never seen, did you take any photos of the bottom of Dave Lopes car?

Rusty here's one out of my 28-29 coupe. It looks like your repo.

Rusty,

Here are two photos of my under front seat floor pan on our June 13, 1928 Phaeton. I'm sure it is original to the body as it was riveted in before I removed it for restoration. The shot with the wood cross brace is from the passenger side, and the shot without the brace is from the driver's side. The seat cushions tend to scratch up the paint of the seat risers, just can't be avoided.

Rusty,

Comparing the photos of my Phaeton front pan to your photos got me curious about the pan in my August 5, 1928, Special Coupe (49-A). Here is a shot of that front seat pan. Again, this is an original pan to the body, as it was riveted in when I removed it for restoration from an unmolested, fairly low mileage car.

Dave,

Those 2 pans are different....interesting....what are the 4 rivets for in the touring?
Also my original pan has no drain holes, the original one in the car is bad, but plenty
of metal to check for the drains. Thanks Dave, hope your doing WELL.

BTW...what are the colors of the cars?

Dudley,

Although hard to see in the photos, what looks like four rivets in the phaeton pan are four round head slotted screws. They attach to the leading edge of the curtain pan that runs under the floor and is accessed from the rear seat floor. Later Phaetons had the curtain pan accessible from under the front seat like the roadsters did. I'm not sure of the date of that change. I'm hoping that details like that are included in the next Judging Standards revisions. For now, there is a short reference to floor pans on pages 4-9 and 4-10.
The colors in the photos are close, but the flash does change it a bit. The Phaeton is Niagra Blue Light, Duchess Blue trim, and the Special Coupe is Gunmetal Blue. Gunmetal Blue actual looks more like a green with hints of blue and gray. We color matched it from a couple of areas on the car that had original paint, behind the gas tank.

Thank you Dave an Dusty,

I have a good idea on how that looks now, I thought your coupe was Gunmetal Blue,
but the flash sure changes the color. The color is growing on me more. Checked the
my car last night for the holes in the floor pan( still riveted in the car ) it has holes, the replacement pan will need the holes drilled in it. Odd that my original replacement
pan has no holes, it's NOT a repop.

Dudley,
Here's a shot of it outside on an overcast day, which makes the color in the photo pretty accurate. The black belt and moulding with French Gray reveals stripe combo is no longer in the Judging Standards or Paint Guide. This restoration was completed in 1990, and the combo was in the Standards at that time.

Dave,

IF you remember, you are the one who figured out which color my car was originally,
about a year and a half ago from one of my posts. You sent me pic of the car, but
not this one, I love it. I plan on painting my car the same color.

Thanks again, Dudley
