Correct paint for shocks/shock arms

Howdy fellas, please forgive me if this is a repeat question; I searched the site and Marco's website and could not come up with an answer...

What is the correct finish for shock bodies & arms (working on a May 1930 chassis)? From the chassis photo on Marco's website, it appears that the shock bodies were similar in 'sheen' to the frame - arms appear unpainted.

Clarification would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

MOUNTING BOLTS

The earliest (1927) shocks had small mounting ears
and were mounted to the frame with two 7116" x
1-114" raven finished or plain steel, hex head bolts,
each with a cadmium plated 2" flat washer, lock
washer and nut inside the frame. From January 1928
to the end of production, the shocks were mounted to
the frame with special designed bolts that were
unfmished. The 7
/
8" diameter "D" shaped heads were
designed to fit against the shock body to prevent the
bolt from turning. The nut was also unfmished to mid-
1930 and painted black thereafter
.
The lock washer
was unfinished throughout production.

Shock links and grease seal retainers were painted with
black enamel
.
The threaded shock absorber link plug
at the top of the link (when mounted) was
unfinished.

I could not find any specific text in Area 23 for the painting of the shock body, but they should be the same as the shock arm as stated on page 23-4.

Excellent, thanks for the info! I was curious about the links & bolts.

Anyone have info on the shock bodies?
