Correct Location for 29 PU Side View Mirror??

Hello,
Where is the proper location for an outside drivers side view mirror on a 29 CC PU? There are two on my truck, one up by the visor and one half way down the window post from a previous owner.

Don,
The correct location is about half way between the upper hinge and middle hinge. You should have 2 captive nuts in the door post for the mirror bracket. See picture below - this is my 29 CCPU.

If you can't find any bolts with the domed heads, you could weld a dome on a regular fine threaded bolt and grind it down to the correct shape unless you are into fine points judging. I can take a picture of one of the bolts on my CCPU if you need a reference.

Most '28's and early '29 closed cabs had the mirror mounted at the sun visor. The two d-nuts shown in the above photo were added (most likely in early '29) and the mirror was moved to that location. If your hinge pillar does not have the d-nuts, then the sun visor should have 1/4 course thread d-nuts for mounting the mirror bracket.

Note that the mirror bracket and mirror are different for the sun visor mount.
