Correct heads for 1941 Mercury

I have an ultra low mileage ( maybe 100 miles ) rebuilt '41 Merc motor missing the original heads. Is there any such thing as a " 1 9 " head or did they use an 81A head or something similar? Thanks : Bruce.

I'm assuming you're refering to a Canadian-built Mercury. Beginning in 1941 the Mercury used cast iron heads with part numbers C81A 6049A and C81A 6050A. Joe.

The US built Mercury models could have been 81A-6049-A or -B for right side. -A is cast iron and -B is aluminum especially for 1939. The truck heads have also been found on 40 & 41 model Mercurys P/N 99T-6049 and they are cast iron. Part numbers for left heads are same except 6050 after prefix. It seems like a lot of the Canadian cylinder head castings were aluminum but I'm no expert. The old 38 thru 41 Ford & Mercury Chassis parts & price list has the price for the iron heads at $5.00 and the aluminum ones at $22.25. This would indicate that the aluminum ones were pretty expensive for the time.
