I have a 49 Merc flat head with a 3 speed and overdrive. I am trying to figure out if I can convert it to a T-5 trans that uses a hydraulic throw out bearing so I can eliminate the mechanical clutch linkage. Dose anyone have any experience with this?. Alternatively does anyone know if there is a way to convert the original clutch to a hydraulic through out???

Thanks

I used a slave cylinder from Speedway hooked up to Cornhusker's conversion kit. A lot of threads on here about t5's. I have the under floor pedals.

I have used the McCleoud internal throwout bearing for 7 years and 25000 miles. No problems, smooooth operation. Highly recommended, it eliminates all linkages and fabrication..

Thanks Tony . I'll check out Cornhusker' and my Speedway catalog for those.

Yes Tony I looked at the McCleoud. Nice but looks pretty expensive. I'm looking now at using the stock trans but fabing and mounting external slave cylinder on the trans case or going to a cable system similar to one offered by Ford Racing for early Mustangs.
