who makes tops in non stock colors for a 1936 . I am looking for a brown. LaBaron Bonney only makes them in stock colors or black.

You will most likely have to have a top custom made.. I was not to pleased with most of the "off the shelf" tops for my '39 conv, I had a top custom made using Mercedes material in a dark tan color.. The Mercedes type of fabric is three ply, and has a pattern on the bottom side similar to harring-bone.. Of course the Mercedes material is a little more pricey than Hartz, Stayfast, etc.
If you want to PM I'll send you pix of the top on my car..

LB made me one any color I wanted but it cost more.I had one for my 40 and one for my Model A.I didn't like the grain on either one so they made the color of the oxblood leather interior as close as they had it.Just ask them to send you a sample.

The U-tube videos from LB indicate that they have state of the art equipment to do jobs like this quickly. I have no idea how much extra the price would be but they should be able to knock it out pretty quickly since they have the patterns at hand. A person would just have to specify the color and quality of the material that is desired. Your local trimmer can do it all but they need patterns too and likely use relatively common equipment for their trade.

I have a Cutlass convertible that came with a factory yellow convertible top. About 10 years ago I wanted it replaced. My local top guy said, " no problem " Several weeks later, he got back to me. " no one makes it, I checked all my suppliers " - While at " Hershey, " I talked personally with Bill Hirsch. He has advertised Tops for old cars for years. He said, " you will never find it. " He had a 55 packard that had a factory green top and he never could not find a supplier. The next year I was back at Hershey. I saw a 54 Kaiser Darien with a new yellow top. I talked to the owner, He said the Kaiser club, commisioned a special run from a Mill, in yellow. When I got home, I joined the Kaiser club. I bought several yards of the material, and took it to my top guy, who sent it to a top maker, who made the top. My top guy, had to hand dye the piping to match. I know this is a long response but maybe this post will help somone who is looking for a colored top.

thanks for the input. after three calls to LeBaron Bonney I found out they do offer non stock colors. I am waiting for samples.
