Convertible Door

Have a '48 convertible with a passenger door that doesn't close evenly. When closed the bottom rear is away from the body 1/4". It's as though the door is twisted. Is there any remedy for this?

On convertibles, the body needs to be adjusted by adding shims
beneath the body mounts. If you measure the frame from underneath on a diagonal,
the 2 dimensions should be the same. If not the frame needs to be tweaked by
shiming. All the support on convertibles is thru the lower frame and body.
A good frame and body shop should be able to help you.
Good luck!

I have the same problem with my '48 Zephyr Convertible and the body is welded to the frame and no separate mounts to shim. What do I do?

On these doors, there is a diaginal brace that runs from the top hinge to the bottom of the rear of the door. It is made of sheet metal and is next to the upholstery. If the bottom of the door needs to come in you can bend this brace in away from the inside of the car effectively shortening it. This will pull the door in at the bottom, it worked for me.
