Convert Gauges

Can either of the two temperature senders from a V-8 ( one has two terminals, one has one) be used in a later engine when gauges are converted to 12V with a voltage reducer?

The passenger side (single terminal) sender is a heated bi-metalic breaker device which will provide a variable current to interface with the heated bi-metalic type temperature guage unit that will in turn give a fairly accurate temperature reading. The driver side (double terminal) is a thermal switch only thet opens the circuit when it reaches a set temperature value. They are designed to work on 6-volt systems so they will work if the circuit has a dedicated voltage dropping device in a 12-volt system. Fifth Avenue Internet Garage has some voltage dropping/regulating devices for just this type of application. They also have a good book on the subject of 12-volt conversions.

All of the older bulbs like the 99A-10884 worked on the same principles as the later 1A-10884-A but I don't know if the accuracy will be there. The set temperature types are basically all the same. I think there was an adapter to put the late type bulbs in the real early heads.
