There are new replacement 'vintage look' alternators that look very much like the original generators, but they are not a retro-fit kit for an original generator housing.
Here is an example, shown on page 54 of their catalog.
There may be other Mfrs and lots of retail suppliers, I've not looked for them.

They convert generators to alternators Don't know if they do Y Blocks or only flatheads and Model A's. You might want to hang onto to your wallet. They are pricey.
