Connecting rods

I read some were you can use Pontiac rods in a B engine. How do you do that aren't the big end larger than the ford rods?

Pontiac and several others were used in the "olden days" but none were bolt in and go. While they were a large improvement in strength, they would come no where close to the modern after market rods available today and the modern ones bolt right in.

Somewhere around here is one that went thru the side of the block, the other parts were swept up by the track sweeper at Indy.

BTW, there are a few sets still available

The Pontiac rods most commonly used were 1937, 6-cylinder. They were bushed and babbitted to get down to B size. Also they had to be modified to clear the cam. I have seen 8-cylinder rods used but he had the crank welded, narrowed and built up to use Pontiac inserts.
