Compression increase

Hi Barner guys, we are currently working on a 8BA installed in a 1936 Ford Panel weighing in at 3700 LB. Our problem is lack of low/mid grunt to move this heavy vehicle. The engine had a complete rebuilt but only has 90 PSI on all cylinders. By comparison, my coupe with a blown flathead has 140 PSI on all cylinders. The major difference between these two engines(besides the blower) is the cylinder heads. The coupe has Offy 425 heads (chamber volume of 63cc) while the panel has early production MCF heads which I was told has 90cc chamber volumn. The engine is 276", 100 thou valve relief, Isky 400 junior, dome pistons, 3-2 barrel 97s. and MCF heads which I believe need to be milled to get the compression up. Can anyone suggest the required amount of milling on the heads which would be required?? Is there anyone in the Ford Barn community that has these MCF heads installed and if so, could you let me know what your compression numbers are??? Thanx in advance for any info on this subject...

The only way to know is to measure the clearance. This involves removing the heads and using clay or preferably little balls of aluminum foil. Check several areas on the piston ( edge and middle) and also above the valves. Shoot for .050 above the heads and valves.

acording to my book the compresion readings for 35 36 should be #105, maybe you did the check wrong, were all the plugs out and the cluch pedal pushed down?
