Column shift Model A?

I would like to use a '40 side shifter transmission and the column shifter from the F1 pickup. Looks pretty tight going around the starter. Anyone had any experience with this modification of a Model A? Have used the V8 transmissions before, but only with the top shift. Have only had column shifters on V8 era cars and like it. Fred: you might ask this on the early V8 section or the HAMB. I remember seeing pictures in the "little books" of A roadsters w/ v-8's with column shifts (whole columns transplanted), but don't remember w/orig 4-cyl. Neat idea.
