column drop on 36

The bolts on the column drop have become loose...There is an elongated hole in the dash where the bolts go...My question is where is the drop supposed to be bolted in the elongated slot....Thanks

The slots allow some alignment to take place. Tighten the drop in the position that puts no strain on the column. [After steering box bolts are tightened]

Brian....How does one know if there is strain on the column?

Well... you shouldn't have to apply force in order to start bolts. Like, if you have to heave on the column sideways for example, in order to get the bolts started, not good.

Brian....No force needed...I will keep the drop in the center of the slot....
