I have a 1936 Fordor sedan and am about to fit my columbia overdrive to it, but I am concerned about mounting the vacuum valve on the firewall. Can anyone help with the correct placement of this valve with either a copy of the mounting template or dimensions?

ynot?.. I just talked to my brother ( original 36 sta,wag ) and his control valve is mounter on the frame, between the firewall and the steering gear box, It needs to be in line in front of the clutch, as it is clutch operated, contact: COLUMBIA TWO SPEED PARTS,INC. John Connelly, good people to talk to and will send printed information with pictures,Ph # 951-719-4077 my car is a 39 and the control valve mounts on the top of steering gear box, also inline with clutch .... OLD...BILL

I have a 36 roadster with an original Columbia and controls. I'm in Pa. and the 36 is in FL. so I can't look at it but the manual control valve as I recall is close to the center of the firewall. You may be able to figure it out from where the shifting knob casting mounts below the dash right in the center. There are installation reprints available from most old Ford parts dealers, I would get one of them and it will give you a diagram where all the parts mount. G.M.

How about this. It may be hard to read. 15 1/2" over from inside raised seam for firewall cowl kick panels, pass side. drill 7/8" hole 7/8" up from the bend seam in the firewall. Note: measure the diameter of the valve and confirm hole diameter, may wish to center the hole slightly less than 7/8" up from the bend seam so that the legs on the valve sit on the firewall.

I have a -39 Merc sport convertible that I want to fit a Columbia twospeed rear end on. All help with location of control valve and vacuum line routing would be greatly appreciated. Also a supplier of the valve and bracket with control cable would be helpful to find.:D
