Columbia Rear end? 1936

Nope. The axle housing is quite different. The '36 radius rods attach in a very different method (place) than '37 - '40.[/QU

Thanks Kube, I knew that but I'm talking about a complete assembly including the rear spring.

Jumping right in here, I can't think of any reason why a COMPLETE-WITH-SPRING '40 rear end would not bolt into a '36, EXCEPT for the fact that the matter of the mechanical/hydraulic brakes must be considered. All of the major dimensions between '35 & '40 are identical when considering the rears. I have a friend in Florida with a '36 3-W coupe that has a complete '40 rear end w/spring and torque tube/drive shaft, and it all fits perfectly.

You are correct in that an entire assembly would fit. That MUST include the torque tube and radius rods.
