Color of my Engine

I have a 29 special coupe with the 2 holes above the steering column in the fire wall. The holes look to be factory. Mine has rivet in one hole and missing rivet in other hole. The empty hole is square like a one quater inch carrage bolt will fit in it. Does anyone know what these holes were fore. Thanks Dwayne

Now that Iam able to upload pics once again, I wanted to show my new engine, it was a short block and not painted, I liked the look so I sprayed it Cast Iron grey instead, didn't like the lollipop green.

I like it, I think it looks good that color.

And Bill, you're right, I painted my intake white, and I caught hell for it...but I liked it...so there.
