1928 roadster . clutch worked to get it home , but now will not dissengage . ive tried jerking the rear wheels in gear , starting it in gear (takes off in gear ) . any suggestions b 4 i pull the motor ?? thank you .. steve

If it still has the multi disk clutch, it sounds like some of the plates are caught in a worn out flywheel internal gear. The only real fix is to pull it out and replace the worn out parts, or convert to single plate clutch. Try rocking the car back and forth in high gear, with the clutch depressed to see if it will pop free.

If it were my car, I'd start by removing the inspection cover and looking inside to see if I could find anything.

First look in the inspection cover. See if you can see anything wrong.

Put the rear on jack stands if you are going to try starting it and then hit the brakes or emergency brakes or something. Maybe that will pop it loose.

However, I don't think the disc is rusted to your fly wheel or anything. I think something has broken. Pin in your clutch fork fallen out perhaps?

Steve read you post , you said the clutch work fine when driving home, You did not mention how long it sat before you tried it again, are you sure the clutch is stuck I know this sounds crazy but did you adjust the clutch and see if this might work, do you feel the clutch engage or is there slack just a thought, AL

thank you all . i did the rocking thing , the jack stand thing , insp cover thing , 2 or 3 times . insp cover i can see the t/o brg , it is free , it depress's the clutch but doesnt disengage . i adjusted it up a little to see if it helped , nada . the input shaft & t/o brg show whats apperars to be rust . i think it is stuck on the shaft or to the flywheel . this car came from an estate sale in n.d. i believe he said it was on display , not driven . just good ol model "a" stuff . pulling motor tommorrow to see whats there ..................... again thank you all .... steve ... will report

After removing inspection cover, try spraying in the clutch with "Brake Clean". Might free-up after two or three cans. Try to get the Brake Clean that has the plastic flex tubing for an nozzle. Spray in around the clutch discs.
