Clutch rod adjustment question

I have posted a little bit about this. Got a new nut for the clutch rod on my 50 Ford Custom.
The rod is adjusted so the rod is as short as it will go. I have at least 2" inches of free play in the pedal and can't adjust it out.
Does this mean the pressure plate is bad. Seems like the fingers may be weak or one of them broken.
The car shudders bad if you ease off the clutch and shudders from downshift from 3rd to 2nd. It doesn't feel like it slips. Also at idle if you push the pedal with your hand you can feel it pulsate. Any idea on what this is.

This sounds like a pressure plate symptom.

I am not a mechanic but that's what I feel like it is also. Figure the springs and arms must be messed up. Just need to replace it all. Thanks for the suggestion.

The sleeve that the throw out bearing mounts on has bosses (?) that the fork pushes on.
These wear, and sometimes wear uneven so the bearing is no longer square with the pressure plate arms. So, yeah, it needs to come apart to figger out the issue

Have you checked the motor mounts and trans mount to see if the engine/trans has moved forward?

No I haven't checked that. Don't know how but I guess I can look. What would be the best way to check that? Thanks

Use your eyes to judge if there are splits or they look lopsided. Use your fingers to feel if the rubber is really soft, which happens when it gets oil-soaked.

I will try and check that tomorrow.
I ordered a new clutch pressure plate and pilot bearing.
Had to order the throwout bearing from O Riley. The guy I talked to at Shoe Box Central said the clutch sounded like toast which it probably is.
He said to tell the mechanic to read the instructions good. He said you have to be careful installing it. Also get the flywheel surfaced. If I can get this done hopefully it fixes the clutch problem. Then in to the next thing. Have to get the king pins replaced.

Yes about the tool. I ordered the clutch and pressure plate but they didn't have the tool. They said you could use a universal from like O'Riley. I will ask the mechanic if he has one.
