This is an old thread and never really concluded. I had the identical symptom; 9" V8 pressure plate with fingers hitting the clutch plate when pedal fully depressed. I'm using the current Bratton's clutch plate with captured springs and bigger diameter springs. Burtz flywheel. I discovered 2 issues. First, the locking nuts were installed on the wrong side of the finger. These hit the spring capture feature which reengaged the clutch to the flywheel with full pedal press. Second, the pedal linkage was not adjusted properly, with little free movement before engaging the throw out bearing. Again, reengaged clutch upon full pedal press. Solution was to put the nuts on the correct side, correctly adjust fingers per the numerous threads concerning such adjustment, and changing pedal free movement to 1" (or more) to limit how far the pedal will ultimately move the throw out bearing. Everything works great now.
Hopefully someone else can benefit from my experience. This baffled me for a few hours.
