I've heard of guys bead blasting the clutch plates, i was wondering if the black beuty that i use in my cabinet blaster would be to rough, it's pretty used stuff.

Thanks

Model T clutch plates should be checed for flatness and scoring. Any that are scored, bent, or warped should be disposed of and replaced. Do not bead blast them, it will give you less surface area upon engagement. If they are rusty use a rust dissolver or replace them.

I have media blasted them for years, and haven't seen any problems. It gets rid of all the burn marks and scuzz. 5 miles down the road and they will be shiny again.

Dust blast them if you feel its necessary. I wash mine in solvent with a scotch brite pad and they look good unless really warped or burned. Theres 21 of them so failure isnt likely.
While its apart, measure the spring length and inspect the retaining cup and pin and replace if needed. If its a 26-7 brake drum, replace the lugs; they just snap in. Follow the book on adjusting the 3 release arms for a decent neutral adjustment. ws
