Clutch pedal shaft collar

Hello Folks! The collar on my clutch pedal shaft can be rotated back and forth. I'm thinking the pin and or the hole has some issues. I noticed also that the pin's head is not down on the collar. Like it was never driven in all the way or it's starting to pop out on it's own. I'm going to just knock it through with a punch. Should the end of the new pin have to be peened over after it's installed like a rivet? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

The pin that holds the collar should have a hole for a cotter pin. Don't pein the pin or you may never be able to remove the pin, collar nd pedals. The pin can sometimes be hard ebnough to remove anyway if its been in place for a long time.

Purdy, Thanks for the info. I got it now. I don't have the new pin yet and thought it was like a rivet type pin with no hole for a cotter pin. The cotter pin hole end on the pin thats in there now is not visible as its not sticking out from the collar. And then again, it wouldn't surprise me if it's a nail.

A roll pin will be a tight fit . The pin that holds the pedal shaft collar needs to be a slip fit. The force needed to drive out a roll pin would add difficulty to the operation and strain on the pedal shaft and cast bell housing. Just my thought . Ill stick with the pin that uses a cotter pin.

When installing the clutch pedal collar pin I like to put on some never seize on the pin ,it makes it easier to remove in the future, then put on the cotter pin on the end. The end of the pin that has the cotter pin in it sticks out quite a way's.
