clutch linkage questions

On a '55, is there a bushing supposed to be at the pivot point of the clutch pedal arm and the rod going through the firewall? The hole in the rod is "D" shaped and larger than the pivot bolt shoulder. My searches don't find any reference to a bushing, only shaft bushings. What is it called and source if possible?

Also, should there be a spring keeping tension between the arm on the throw-out fork and the rod that actuates it? If so, where does it attach on the forward end. Thanks for any information.

The foreward end of the spring on the bottom goes to a small tab bolted under one of the bolts on the steering gear. I really don't remember the answer to your other question.

Thanks Don. I guess that tab was lost in the steering gear change.
We have the same situation with the pivot on the rod that connects the clutch fork arm to the Z bar. Slightly larger "D" shaped hole on the rod than the shoulder on the pivot bolt. The shoulder on the pivot bolt acts against the flat part of the "D" shaped hole. It looks like there should be some kind of wear surface between the two, but it would endure a great deal of pressure.

FWIW, my '55 Merc chassis parts book does not show a bushing at that point, and there is no bushing on the Merc. There is a bushing for the brake pedal.
