Cleaning trunk latches

Does anyone have any suggestions on a method to restore the shine to these SS latches?

polish/buff them? I think there was an extensive article in s/rodder mag last month or a few months ago about this.

I did a set last weekend. I used a dremel with a brass wire wheel. It took off the chrome mold and left a nice shine. Be light as the chrome/nickel is a thin layer, particularly on the rivet heads.

I ordered a new set from snyder's in fact I even had to replace all the tacks on the trunk because they had rusted as well. The car was stored for more than five years and it must have been a very damp enviroment. Come to think of it I had to replace the trunk rack as well.
