Cleaning New Old Stock Pistons

Cosmoline and then wax that sounds right. I used to peel the waxed covering off and use paint thinner or WD-40 on the dried cosmoline.

Test fitted the new wrist pins in the connecting rod and dont like the fit, the one I tested has a very small amount of wobble, but enough I dont like it.
The old pins wont fit the new pistons (too big) but fit the rods much better. Took everything to my local speed. The said no problem to fit the pins to the pistons and if the pin to connecting rod needs any attention theyll take care of that too. I'll get them back next weekend.

I had a set in cosmoline last year. I set them atop the woodstove and like others say, the stuff just melted away. I like the bit about surviving a sunken ship. They weren't kidding. Spare parts had tremendous value in the theaters of war.
