You are unlikely to remove the stains without causing more "damage". Woolite® is probably your best bet of you must attempt this.
 
If you attempt this just use the bubbles created after shaking the Woolite in a bottle diluted with a little water not the liquid itself to avoid water staining. Scoop up the bubbles and using a soft shaving brush work it into the surface and blot off with a clean cloth or towel. Do the whole thing, not just spot cleaning to avoid cleaning/tide lines.
