Classic Car Insurance Question

As a new Model A owner, I am looking for a good classic car insurance company. I was wondering if there is a particular company that most Model A owners use. I want to be able to drive my Model A around our little town and want to avoid a policy that significantly restricts use of the vehicle. Any recommendations?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Tom

i use haggerty, good prices, they have stated value in there policys, allow you about 5 or 6000 miles of driving for pleasure, car shows and club meetings , but they dont check milage just dont have an accident at the super market, they dont want you using it as a regular driver, and it must be stock, no modern engines, and they want it parked in a garage, same as most other companys

you can do a search on this and come up with 100's of feeds on the topic. Do your homework.. I use state farm and i drive a lot so they are perfect and competitive for me

I used to have Farmers, but then they wouldn't insure my old cars after insuring them for twenty years. They wanted me to go to a collector car insurance. We ended up over at Grundy's; which insured all of our cars, even the daily drivers, for less money and better coverage.

I used Haggerty for years no claims, just paid my bills and stay out of their way. 2 years ago they decided to increase premiums 15%, no reason just because they could. Kind of the way Progressive does, if you own a motorhome.
Dropped Haggerty and their wine & cheese approach to dealing with their customers, and went with American Collectors Insurance.

It's lucky you stayed out of their way. Anyone here ever had an accident or need roadside service from the Hag? I have and that's why i dropped them like a bad habit. American Modern has my biz, $49 a year.

My recommendation is to run as far away as fast as possible with J. C. Taylor - great on accepting premiums, terrible on paying claims.

I unfortunately had 2 claims with my antique cars and J.C. Taylor was polite and efficient. I have no issues with them .

I had four cars with Hagerty and no issues. However, I have a single policy for my house, drivers and an umbrella policy that will not cover cars insured by Hagerty. So, i dropped the car I drive regularly from Hagerty and added it to my regular policy for three times the price Hagerty was charging!

There has to be a reason for premium increases. I have had Hagerty for 20 years and the only price adjustments have been based on changing cars or upping coverage. I did note that six or seven years ago they added an extra charge for the Hagerty premium package for towing and a pretty nice quarterly magazine.

Count me as pro Hagerty!
