cking oil level in 1925 model t

hello all
i have a 23 roadster and my brother has a 25 p/u he called me and asked how do you ck oil level when i put a rebult motor and trans in the 23 about 7 years ago i put a dip stick on it so i didnt have to craw under it anymore so witch petcock do you open to ck oil the lower one or higher one on the tran?

You should maintain the level so the oil just comes out of the upper petcock. If nothing comes out of the lower one the level is too low & unknown.

You do not need to crawl under the car if you have a checking rod as pictured. Lang's, etc. have these.

Or if you're as cheap as I am you can go to a welding supply and get a couple dollars' worth of 1/4" rod and make it yourself.
