Is there not a good chrome plater in Wisconsin? I would think Milwaukee would have some. Now, if you just knew someone that worked at Kohler!:D

BTW, Most Model A parts for 28 and 29 are Nickel plated.

Sorry, I can't help with the name of any shop in Ohio.

Here is the thing, I'm sure there are great companies that offer "Triple chroming". Triple chroming is copper, nickle, chrome.

The trouple comes in when you bring in a part like a bumper and want a "fine point" job. Does the chromer know that the back side of the bumper is not mirror smooth like the front?

A chomer is one thing, one that know Model A's is another.

That does not mean you cannot educate them. As a matter of fact you can tell them if they follow your instructions they can count on you extoling their ability here on the web, potentially bringing in more business.

I can't find it now but there was a gentleman that listed his instructions to the plater.

I do not know mid-west located chromers but would like to mention Paul's Chrome. They redid the plating on my 32 Ford, which is done similar to the Model A. I was very happy with the results. They know antique cars. Pricing was only slightly higher than for the "strip and dip" platers. Check out their web site.

Just met these people at Autofair in Charlotte, been in business since the 70's, father & sons. Their work looked great, and answered all questions, also said to make sure to get references. S&H chrome plating 817 Madison Industrial rd Madison Tenn. 37115 phone 615-865-0100 www.s-hchrome.com

Your link is bad.
Thanks.

I have used Super Fine Shine Inc. of Chillicothe Ohio (740) 774 1700 for motorcycle parts and have been very happy with their work.

I used Pauls chrome.

I cried when I got my top iron for my 68C back. I sent them a pair with minimal pitting and they came back ground down like a sword blade. Most of my top parts would not fit together and was ground down significantly.

I only sent them 8 pages of notes on how the parts needed to be done and how the parts must function together. I also talked with the manager 3 times before I sent the parts and I thought I was pretty clear I was willing to pay for hand work to get the parts done right.

After sending parts back twice. After the first time back they still never test fit the parts together to be sure they could work. I finally got plated functioning parts.

Always remember show chrome means look pretty. A parts were not ever show chrome, they were functional. You get show chrome with liberal use of grinding.
