Check out assembly line 1936

Pretty neat once the shock of the Brand is overcome... ;)

The sheet metal presses are amazing.

Just imagine how much work went into designing all the tooling and assy lines.
I worked as a toolmaker for GM in NZ and know what is involved.
I wonder if they had RSI back then.

That was not the Ford factory they were installing an ovehead valve 6 cylinder engine, Chevrolet? I couldn't tell for sure by the grill.

Very good film of what our grandfthers may have done for a living 75 years ago.

I couldn't stop watching, what a video. It was so cool to see the presses in action. Those were 36 chevrolets right? First all steel top?

Great video! I've never seen industry in motion and found it fascinating to say the least! It takes a lot to build a car, but it apparently takes much more to make and assenble the parts.

I replied to this on the hamb, but this an excellent movie, called Master Hands - it's available from archive.org in 4 parts - well worth viewing. The original is scored by the Detroit Phiaharmonic.
I personally thought the modern trance soundtrack fitted quite well and suited the relentless hypnotic motion of the machines and the men.

Mart.
