Chassis serial number

On a 29 pickup chassis, the serial number is mostly legible, however 2 characters are tough to decipher.

Is there any process, like Coke or vinegar that will make the number easier to read?

Thank You.

Try rubbing the numbers with some Chalk, rub in and gently blow the dust away. If not a smear of light colored paint might do it then quickly remove the paint.
Good luck...

What Jim said. I also find using a magnifying glass helps. H/F has a nice low powered magnifying glass for about $2.
Don't buy one with a plastic lens.

When trying to find dropped parts on the floor, holding a flashlight parallel with the floor will high light things you can see! This might help high light your numbers!

UPDATE:

After trying the above suggestions, I did get a small bottle of muriatic acid, and added a small amount of battery acid (sulfuric acid), and applied with a cotton swab. Basically information I found in Mike V's link. Well after 15 minutes I could clearly read all but the last number. I took a picture, and let it have a second dose. After 15 more minutes---I have it.
I did neutralize the surface several times with backing soda and water slurry.

I thank you all for your help.

Thank You Very Much; Brian
