I like mine too. I have cast iron brake drums, and a very efficient radiator. Makes for a nice driving experience, without chewing up babbit.

The Mitchell synchro gearboxes have that modification to the ratios. In one of my cars, I run the synchro gearbox AND a 26% O/D. That is the setup I use for all of my towing and looong distance touring. With synchro in both the gearbox and O/D, I drive it like a 5 speed with shifts just about as quick.
In my other cars, I have a standard gearbox and the O/D. With those, high second is a very useful gear. I have mastered the shift from high 2nd to low 3rd so that now, the shift takes very little time.
With the combinations available these days, the Model A can be a very driveable car with no need for 4 or 5 speed modern cog houses. I say all of that, not as a criticism of the way Henry set up the car but as a recognition that the demands of driving have changed.

I give Astra Werke an A+ for his engineering intelligence, his mechanical skills and his bravery for experimenting with new ideas. I very much enjoy watching the videos of his adventures with his Model "A" Ford. Astra speaks English very well too!
