Changing Spindles - I have a friend tha gave me a tube axle that had 46-48 Ford Spindles and brakes on it. He needed the spindles so I got the rest. I have been looking for 46-48 spindles and another friend indicated he had a set of 39 Ford Spindles. My question is will these innerchange with out any problems ? Thanks Tom

Yes, 1937-1948 Ford spindles are interchangeable as far as the axles they will fit. The biggest physical difference (ie one that affects the fit) between the 1937-41 and the 1942-48 spindles is a somewhat different shape of the steering arm. Be sure to use the kingpins, etc. for the year of spindle you're using. The 39 brakes were still mechanical but it's easy to install the later hydraulic ones if that's the way you want to go. Good luck.

37-38 brakes still mechanical; 39 hydraulic... 37-41 spindles the same, so no problem installing hydraulics.

Richards right (as usual) and I was having a brain fart - 39 was indeed the first year of hydraulic brakes.
