Changing from DOT 5 to DOT 3 fluid

Thanks to all who answered. My next step is to take the lines loose from the fitting and inspect both. I think I will have the flares cut off and reflared. Then, if I replace the fitting, there should be no way it can leak.

Master clys. sometimes leak air through the seals in the pushrod end of the cly. The pressure brake switch will sometimes get a hairline crack in the inside diaphragm and pull air in and not leak fluid,the best way to fix this type of switch is to install a mechanical switch. I have had dot 5 fluid in my 33 for at least 20 years,in My corvette for at least 30 years.

DOT 5 will cause pressure activated brake light switches to fail unless a "DOT 5 safe" switch is used.

I thought that this was bs, but my sons brake switch failed after less than a year, I believe now.

I replaced it with a DOT 5 safe switch, been in a couple of years now.
