After starting my 30 pickup, the engine runs quietly, but if I depress the clutch pedal (sitting still, not in gear) it seems to run louder. Is this normal?
Depends on what you mean by 'louder'. When you depress the clutch pedal the full force of the throw out pressure is also forcing the crankshaft forward against the rear main bearing thrust. If you have a lot of crank end play, forcing the crank forward will change the engine sound as the rods and pistons get pushed sideways.
