Champion 3 Plugs

Does any one know what the Champion 3 Plug was used for ??.. NOT to be confused with the 3X, But it came in the same base parts as a 30-31 "A" Ford would have.. It is NOT the 28-29 style plug..

I have a list that came from MARC or MAFCA magazine long ago that has drawings and it states:
Thick Hex # 3 used from 10/'27 to 1/'29
It is the same looking as 3X but has a 3 on it and underneath Made in USA

Hope this helps

More information: The Champion 3 spark plug drawing has a tracing date of 10-24-26, whth changes through 5-17-28. It is identical to the Champion 2 design except for the added shell skirt and lengthened insulator, designed to extend the plug deeper into the combustion chamber.

I think it came out the MARC magazine.

They are 100 % 30-31 shape, came out of 30-31 bases as used with the 3Xs, But with only a 3.. The made in U.S.A. is on the back side as normal..

You always state your opinion as fact. Please provide some documentation, so we will know for sure.
I have five "3" plugs with two different bases. Two have the thicker nut and 3 have the narrower nut.
These came from a building that was a junk-yard, that closed during WWII.
I'm thinking that they might have come both ways.

I thought the the 3 was made for the Model T and the 3X was made specifically for the Model A. I am no guru so take this with a grain of salt, as they say.
