centrifugal spark advance

I printed this B distribuitor information on paper and saved it, it's about 10 yrs. old. The B has been reported from different owners to start at 15 to 19 degrees before top dead center and stay there to 700 rpm's. Then advances to about 29 degrees btdc at 2500 rpm's.
I wouldn't want to hand crank it.

I just seen a Model A w/a Jeep 4 cyl dist. in it,the guy says his Father did it years ago, just had topen the hole up alittle.

Pretty clever device I say. At 19 degrees advance Ford must have considered how it would be handcranking as the 32s had a crank and a hole in the radiator shell. The top plate also could be adjusted to retard or advance slightly then locked in place. I like the improvements in the 32 design in relation to point changing and condenser location.

I prefer the original distributor with a few simple mods, not the so called modern points. I run the wireless lower plate and the model B style points cam, or better still the new points cam that Bill Stipe makes. The model B distributors usually run too retarded and are more complicated. The B distributor is harder to time and you will really need to install the model B front timing cover.. The girls usually prefer the automatic advance. I installed a Mallory dual point distributor in the 31 coupe back in 94 and I haven't had to touch it since. My daughter now has the coupe and loves it. Electronic ignition is used on modern cars. I don't work on the modern cars so it only makes good sense to me to use something that I know how to fix if necessary. If you want hotter spark, I run the epoxy filled Pertronix flame thrower coil. I have the simplicity of the original distributor and points and probably hotter spark than electronic. I like using the spark lever.

how about a Phillips automatic spark control i found one in an engine block i found

No question this is the best and the original, If you also can get a NU REX it is just about a copy of it, they did stop making them due to cost but i hear they might be at it again, really a great device and very very easy to install, BUT be sure to set using the Phillips instructions on timing and to set the spark lever, that is more important, good luck..
