CB Installation Problems

I had already replaced the alternator. Today I took the new Cobra radio out and replaced it with a Uniden radio and it worked well. I cannot explain why but it worked.

Thanks for the help.

Here's an example of a 12 volt regulator. For a couple bucks more you can get one rated for 20 amps. Put an amp meter in line with the CB power supply to measure the amps used when you key the microphone, then I like to go at least 50% more for a safe amp rating.

I just saw where you have the problem solved, but this might help someone who's looking for a regulated voltage supply. You can buy them in various voltage and amp ratings.

When I measure the voltage at the alternator of the Model A with the non performing CB I get very erratic readings.

Could be one of several different things in the alternator causing this.

Best as MikeK said: "Purchase a new alternator."
