Just received a batch of 50 fuel pump diaphrams from Mac's NY. All are NO/GOOD do not buy.Screw holes are way off dont line up and some of the stem slots are not high enough for the inside hooked lever to pass through the hole. ALL JUNK. They know about it and still selling them. They changed suppliers . There not like the others they had. Why are they still selling them if they know of the problems with them.????? ken ct.$$$$$$

Talk about poor quality. There long time supplier was offered by them for another run of 10,000 of them. they wont do it and they were usa made. What is this country comming to.??? ken ct.

BTW Job-Lot is selling the same ones?? And most likely all of the ford outlets,so beware what you buy.I have about 30 of the old ones left, when those are gone thats it for the FP rebuilding for me any way. ken ct.

Yea i was on the phone with them this morn, their taking them back, they know about the problem but still shipped them out to me,hell of a way to do business! ken ct.

why would a supplier buy them from a manufacturer if they know they arent the right part? doesnt make any sense.... sounds like all the suppliers get their parts from the same people.

" sounds like all the suppliers get their parts from the same people."

In general, that's true. The market for many parts, the fuel pump diaphragm for example, isn't large enough to sustain multiple suppliers. Splitting the market amongst several suppliers would drive up the prices based on the economy of scale. Quality is another issue.

I got the last 60 of them [the old ones] last time i ordered them. I was assured last wk when i ordered these 50 that they Mac's was back with old supplier. Not so they lied. Not my way of doing business. ken ct.

The following, my opinion...... This sounds like Mac's just being Mac's. Last order, a small one, not a SINGLE

CRAP, I have fuel pump 2 kits to have on hand, bought them 2 years ago, probably no good? Also the manual wiper setup I got for my bucket car same order was soft as butter, threw it out. Pakistan or India, forget what country. Probably same with wind wing kits? Make my own I guess.

Don't these parts vendors check items, as they come in from overseas ? They should have an idea, that they might be wrong, shouldn't they ?
MIKE

Mac's has had GOOD diaf. for about 5 yrs,if there fairly thick and you can see the fabric on the edge your probebly ok. The new ones hes selling now are very thin and have a tab that sticks out on the edge, these are the ones that are NO GOOD. ken ct. I have never bought kits from him, only diaf.and they were good usa made ones. The outfit they were getting them from DONT want to make them anymore. Its too bad.Mac's changed suppliers.

I guess they dont Mike. They know of the problem but they keep selling them.Midget mentality i guess over there. ken ct.:)

"Midget mentality" here is more like it. "Make it cheap so I can make lots of profit on it and still sell it cheap!" is the business model. Those overseas factories can produce goods to any quality level the U.S. buyer wants. If the U.S. businessman wants top quality and enforces quality control (and pays a fair price) he will get a top quality product. It starts with us, the end user. If we send back the shoddy merchandise and demand a refund and don't buy anything more from that dealer PLUS are willing to pay more for quality, someone may get the message. No demand, no supply (of junk). I have a 1947 flat rate manual which also gives parts prices. A 1947 V8 fuel pump diaphragm and rod assembly (68-9398) had a Ford list price of $.050 (fifty cents). Jsut guessing here , but if average wage was $1 an hour, you worked 1/2 hour for that diaphragm. Today, figuring wages at $20 an hour with Joblot selling diaphragms for $4.50, you work only 1/4 hour for it. You could pay double for a high quality one. Question is , would you?!

O K folks, Now we know a "big outfit" like Mac's must surely read the Ford forums. don't you think they would come to their defense with a post? Or, maybe they want to just "lay in the weeds" and keep buying from China. C'mon Mac's, we know you are watching, how about a comment? Believe me, we will pay for USA parts. Un-American to ship jobs overseas. John

Ken, thanks for the heads up. If everyone that gets junk parts will post it here,it may save others some grief and the suppliers may see it and realize that they can't get away with peddling junk.
