catch 22 on my hood removal 1950

I started in on my hood removal and the hinge bolts seem to have nuts on the back and will loosen but will not come out. I thought I could take off the rear hood stiffener and it would then just slide out. Unfortunately the center hood trim prevents this and cannot be removed unless the hood is removed (slides off toward the windshield). I'm sure I will get it tomorrow but would like to know if there is something I am missing.

I will post pictures for the next guy if when I get through it.

Yes! When I get the bolts loose I will grab one of my daughters to help. They are both good kids but not much in the grease monkey realm.

Unbolt the hood from the hinges but before you do that, mark the location where the hinge attaches to the hood. This will help you to realign the hood when you put it back on. Also mark the hing locations before removing them.

My hood hinges on my 53 were spot welded on, one of them had been replaced and had to have a backup wrench on it. not easy to get to!

I got it! The weld nuts were broken on the inside but was able to get both the rear screws out then tilt the hood enough that the trim slid out just over the windshield. I took the screws out for the rear hood support under the trim and "presto" it slid out like butter.

These are some pics for the next guy.
