Catastrophic Failure?

Just a "tip" for others here, you should demand to have the unit run/tested on an engine dyno! We would NEVER get involved in any Flathead builds any longer without running them and making 100% certain the customer doesn't have a similar experience as the build above.

I'm not aware this was done for this one here but it should ALWAYS be done, for both our peace-of-mind and the customer's!!

This is the way it is today.

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. If any customer opts for the machine work/parts only (and they often do here) and they want to take care of the assembly themselves we have no issue with this method, BUT, they are entirely on their own if any problems occur! When they get through the dyno session the rings are fully seated (assuming Moly and block-plate honed) and we can pretty much guarantee a very nice build. I have many of these out now over 20 years and untold miles with not ONE single complaint! The build in my signature is a classic example of the type build we are talking! Has over 30,000 (?) miles and has been out over 6 years now. I had one built a very long time back (16 years to be exact) that ran at Loudon (local roundy-round track) constantly up-and-down at 5000 RPM also with not one issue. Belonged to very good friend, it is still running fine but no longer raced!

I was at the GNRS this past weekend and saw a flathead rebuilding booth there, and I immediately thought of this thread. Hope it worked out for 5 Window. Never updated us.

We were at a car show a couple years back. Friend that lived not too far from the Motel drove over in his 52 Ford pickup. Got ready to leave and the engine started then died. Starter wouldn't turn it. We thought the starter Bendix had locked in the flywheel. But that wasn't the case. Found that a valve seat had came loose and locked the engine.

if the eng is shot get a 37 eng best flathead ford ever made put the early heads & block off plates & it,s hard to tell it from a 35 36 eng leave it stock you will be happy with it

I had issues with a turnkey 8BA, bell, clutch setup. Mine turned out to be the wrong PP interfering with the bell. But as Jim @ Bubba's indicated my first move was to call my vendor and worked with him step by step to resolve & he sent parts @ no cost. Hate to say but u should have called H&H before any disassembly & gotten documented emails or texts from them instructing you on what they wanted u to do. Sorry to hear ur Delma.

On the outside chance that someone here may not know flatjack......Jack Meyer......
I will reveal he is a down to earth good guy and a serious flathead engine builder. He's
also one hell of a licensed plumber.
Yep he's from Oshkosk, Wisc.
