Castellated nut for Spindle Steering Arm

The nut holding the left side steering arm on the spindle assembly was not snugged down, so I removed it (with great difficulty). The threads were damaged and now I cannot get it to easily snug up to the spindle body. Tried a replacement nut and had the same problem.

I beleive the threads must be unique and i cannot determine if the existing threads are 13, 14, 15 or 16 threads per inch and i cannot find a description of the nut in the manual. They are fine and not coarse threads. Any advice from the forum?

If the threads on the stud are damaged, you will not get any nut on it without possibly tearing up the threads on the new nut.
Remove the same nut on the other side of the spindle. It is (or should be) identical.
Use a tap and die set to clean up the threads on that stud based upon the threads of the good nut you removed as a sample.
