Cast Iron Sediment Bulb Brass Cap

Good morning,
I recently purchased a new brass cap but it won't fit the sediment bulb.
The old one measurers 0.861 and the new one measurers 0.873. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks for your help,
Al

Not a cap per-se - but rather the "bottom" (A9175) of the bulb.

The brass/forged iron "X" drain (A9177) screws into it.

There is no "cap." Top of bulb is "closed."

Sounds like a manufacturer issue - unless you own a lathe and want to take a whack at it.

The cast iron sediment bulb HAS been reproduced, but not recently. You may have a stock part garnered from the reproduction run.

The parts distributor calls it a cap even though it closes the bottom and the water drain star piece screws into it. Yes it is brass.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue.
Thanks,
Al

I recently purchased about 10 cast iron sediment bulbs and have found that 3 of the screw in bases (drain valves) are larger than the rest. There are two styles, early and late.
