Cast iron or steel?

Was getting ready to put the cab back on my pickup and found a crack in my throttle linkage. Are these steel or cast iron. Need to repair before the cab goes back on.

The ones I have all appear to be steel.

Personally, I would call Bert's, get a good used replacement, & maybe keep yours for a spare.

Appears somebody improperly greatly over-stressed it.

In normal common sense use, it doesn't take much to move a carburetor throttle.

In the 1800s and early 1900s, A lot of forging was done. This means forming the part by force and pressure. Wrenches are still made this way. Gun parts, machine parts, all were or had forged parts. The late 1800s the forge was almost as fast as the punch press. In addition, it toughened the steel. If the throttle linkage were made from Cast Iron it would have probably broken years ago. That goes for the forged fender braces as well. Hope this helps.

Try to fix (weld) the one you have. There are a number of different styles, and yours is probably "true" to the year of your vehicle.
