Hey keeeef,
Thanks for the update, as a lot of the helped do not do so and that seems to 'rankle' feathers here.
Now, more advice :) !
Contact Tod , who is correctly making the part that you want to use.
Finally, GOOD on Snyders for upholding their fine rep. !!

I guess my question is,

How well did the 2 manifolds fit together ? Were the surfaces checked with a straight edge ? Just my thoughts on the lack of power, vacuum leak.

It appears to be a bad casting. Maybe there is a lot of slag inside the manifold restricting the flow.

Hey keeeef,
Are you saying that that is a picture of a 'new' cast iron exhaust header..how long ago did you receive / install it

I ask, because Tod has been complaining of this JUNK part for some time now. He is making his own patterned version of a cast iron exhaust... NEW !
I think that Snyders (Steve) will make things right for you, as it should be. Let us know, eh.
Snyders is Tom Jordan. Steve is Berts. Am I right about Steve?

Post #26: "Steve is Berts. Am I right about Steve?"

Yes, odd as it may sound ( and logically weak ) Steve is Bert and Bert is Steve.

Wow, Great timing on this post. I am just about to order an exhaust manifold to replace a very sagging one. Probably will replace for the exhaust and the intake. Do I have to be concerned about the manifold I would get from Mikes or Berts?

I sent CarlG the very first sample header I made, a while back. I would like to hear his assessment of my product. Especially since I have 35 of them to cast for Snyder to replace the obsolete junk tooling someone sold him.

Tod

The header Tod sent has been installed on my new Ron Kelly engine and run on his test stand in Texas. Reports from Ron are that the header fit perfectly and preformed well on the test stand.

I now have the engine, with the header, installed in my vehicle. Today I am having the adapter made to hook up to the muffler. Hope to have the engine running later this week. Picture later today.

Before I sent the header to Ron to put on my engine, I did a fit test on my old block with the Weber carb. There were no interference problems that have been reported with the previous manufacture of this type header.

(My apologies to Tod, I didn't see his post (#19) above until just now.)

Hey Carl,
Thanks for this evaluation of Tod's new made custom cast iron exhaust header. I've found that I need this style header due to interference of tube header , with use of '32 stock fuel pump. I've been holding off waiting for this great report and due to past complaints about the older model same style.
I think that I've read that Ron K has tested and has reported that this type exhaust design performance is EQUAL to that of tube headers

Pictures of Tod's new header:
First just the header itself with a collector from Snyders.
Next is on my old block with a Weber carb.
Then on my new RK engine with a Stromberg 97.

OK stupid me. I now realize that this thread is talking about exhaust headers and not the standard exhaust manifold. I will place the order for the matched manifolds and get the engine back together. Sorry for not reading a little better before posting.

The intake and exhaust manifold of the Model A Ford I understand, but the rest of this I have no idea what their talking about.

It won't fit an original A type exhaust?

It has a different connection at the end of the header than is on the original A type exhaust. Same as for any header. Slight modification where it attaches to the header is all. (see the first picture in post #34)

I got all the pieces last night, assembled and fit checked. Today it gets welded up and installed. All 99% original parts.

Update on Tod's new cast exhaust manifold. I now have about 1,300 miles on it and have had no problems at all. Works perfectly and stays flat. Looks awesome!
