Cast Brake Drums

The current front cast drums look nothing like the 31 originals which were a spoke design. Do the current rears look at all like the originals?

Looking at the Judging Standards, the August 1931 and later cast iron drums are described as "rough", but not "spoked" as I believe the "Rocky Mountain Brakes" on the Model T were.

they are not model T drums they are late 31 brake drums and the re-pops dont have the cooling ring or stifner like the late 31s...and the fronts are just a plain flat drum...no spokes at all. I think the spokes were for cooling not sure dont know what eles it would be for.

Thanks for the responses, you have answered my question. I bought these front drums at an auction this weekend. Suppose that means I need to look for rears if I go to use them. They range from .020 to .045 over with no big groves. I'll get them on the brake machine and check for runout but they look good.

The original rear cast drums weren't "spoked" like the fronts. They looked like a cast iron version of the stamped steel ones. I've only ever seen a couple of them.

I knew they were not spoked but can't say I've ever seen one. I assume they have the same fin as the fronts and the same fin as a 32, also spoked only on fronts. I have not seen the repros and didn't know if any attempt was being made to copy the originals. Seems like the answer is no.
