Checking a carb. for a customer-sent from another state. When mounted on a good running car, this carb will make an attempt to start, but only sputter the engine, but never start. I have never seen one that will not at least fire the engine. It was supposedly rebuilt, and has lots of new parts. I will flow check all the jets, and check passages. Any suggestions on where to look for the problem??

Sounds like the float valve is stuck shut. I wonder if the float mechanism got jammed in transport.

If it leaks or floods, then something else is the problem.

Are you sure the venturi is in it? Often times when they are accidently ommitted during re-assembly they will cause the same symptoms.
