Carrier bearings & axle housings

I'm trying to assemble a pair of early rear end housing, pre 36, with a late ring gear carrier and notice the early housing carrier bearings and races are different than the late bearings and races. The new races I got are Timken brand number 68-4222, and these do not fit the axle housing as they are about .015 bigger in diameter and nearly .125 thicker. So none of this fits. Can I use the correct early bearings and races that fit the early housings and still use the late 38-48 ring gear carrier?
Somebody out there has got to have done this before me. HELP!! DanP

part # 18 -4205, 18-4206, case differential gear are the same, bearings same till 36, the 32-34 housing (banjo) is more narrow than the 35-48 one

you should mention exactly what you are trying to mix

Like Kurt said the carrier is the same so you should be able to use 18-4221
and 18-4222 bearing and race.

Thanks guys, I think I've found what I need at hot rod works. They have the kit for the 33-34 housing to 35-48 banjo's. It must consist of the 18-4221 and 18-4222 bearing and race assemblies. I'll contact them after the holidays. Thanks Ford Barn,,,,Dan
